Coping with loneliness

Hi all,

I am single and 33 but haven’t been able to meet anyone since I moved to the UK 3 years back. In a good job and doing good for myself but find it impossible to meet anyone. Can someone help in coping with loneliness?

Do you have friends? Socialise? Work colleagues?

Yes few friends but not many.

That's tough, I know how it feels. Can you find out if we have a cultural centre for your country in the UK? They often do talks, events and evenings where you might meet people. Meet up.com might have some interesting groups and activities in your area.

Near me they have walks, film club, philosophy club, hiking, camping and loads of other stuff. How about a class? Sport? Parkrun? Volunteering? There are apps to make friends, you could give that a try.

Do you have any hobbbies or interests outside of work that you could expand on/join groups for? Meeting people when you already have an interest in common can help ease into friendship.

Yes I like hiking and cycling and I try going out for these activities through meet up. But it’s always difficult to make friends. People speak and then it fades.

Hi lovely. Just a little hug here to say you’re not alone! I’ve moved out after separating from hubby and it’s very hard to adjust to the loneliness. Think we have just got to get ourselves out there to build up the social aspect again 💜
