How do I tell 3 children about divorce?

My husband dropped the bombshell on Sunday that he wants to leave our marriage. We have had a few days of thinking, and hours of talking, but he is adamant that he will not try any means of saving our marriage. I am shell shocked and heartbroken but I feel now I must focus on protecting my 3 girls aged 8, 10 and 12. Can anyone recommend a book with advice for this situation, and the situation going forward? Does anyone have any experience with this? My memories of my parents announcing this to myself and my siblings are pretty horrendous so I’d really appreciate any thoughts. X

So sorry @BeAgileStork I would ask your husband to do it as he’s the one that’s chosen to leave. You can be there to field any questions and hugs.

I don’t really remember how my parents told me they were divorcing. I think it was such a long drawn out process there wasn’t just one conversation so we had time to get used to it.

Sounds like this came out of the blue for you? Do you suspect there is someone else?
