Unusual discharge, panicking he’s cheated

We get married next week. Together a long time.

My discharge is bright yellow. Everything I read online indicates it’s likely an STI. I haven’t slept with anyone other than him for many years.

Never had any reason not to trust him and I’ve never checked his phone etc. I’m obviously going to go to the GUM clinic for a test but the results are unlikely to be back before the wedding.

I’m spiralling, guessing it’s the pressure of the wedding which is making me panic. I don’t think he’s cheated but of course how well do we ever know someone? I’ve been cheated on in the past by a previous ex. Has anyone ever had bright yellow discharge and it wasnt an STI? Just looking for some reassurance I guess.

It could be candidiasis, bacterial vaginosis or an STD such as trichomoniasis, Chlamydia or gonorrhea. I believe you can get fast tracked results if you go private which is what I would do.

So many things can cause yellow discharge, thrush is a very common one, to even sometimes in pregnancy. I had very unusual discharge in pregnancy sometimes slightly yellow, but doctors said wasn’t a concern. I’ve also experienced yellow discharge during thrush before they got cleared up very easy. It is very quick and easy (and if you like, don’t even have to tell your partner about) to get tested. You can even order kits online for free to get STD and any infection testing sent to your door

I would try to go private, but yes I do think you are right to be concerned. A lot of women experience changes like this & it turns out their partner was cheating. It’s of course possible it’s something else too, but clearly your mind has gone to cheating because of other things too. If you’re deep down concerned, you don’t have to marry him.

There's a myriad of reasons for abnormal discharge.

Though I'm sensing an underlying feeling all through your writing.

Apprehension.

When was his stag do and where did he go?

whereismymindd · 09/06/2025 07:00

I did think about going private but to get the full suite of tests including trichinoniasis is £500 which is not possible at the moment. I will call the NHS clinic this morning. I don’t think it’s thrush as I have no other thrush symptoms, no itching etc. Just this quite yellow discharge.

That’s considerably cheaper than divorce…

Have to spoken to your partner to see if he’s got any symptoms as well?

OchreRaven · 09/06/2025 07:26

Are you on any medication? I had different discharge for a while and was paranoid it could be an STI. Even bought the kit. I told my H I had as I was worried and asked if I should be. He said no and didn’t seem bothered that I had the test ready to go. In the end I realised that I was on some medication and once I finished the course my discharge went back to normal so never used the test.

Have you spoken to your partner about this? His reaction may tell you what you need to know?

I know when my H is lying/worried and he showed no signs which is why I didn’t bother with the test in the end.

PopThatBench · 09/06/2025 07:30

I’ve had a few medications and even a few vitamins make my urine bright yellow. It’s also been bright yellow throughout my pregnancy.

Go to the NHS clinic and ask if there’s any way they could push the results through. Fingers crossed for you!

Have you looked on the boots website? I did a test through them think it was £40

Pickle991 · 09/06/2025 09:26

Let’s get checked is cheaper and you do it at home

sameshizz · 09/06/2025 09:39

I think you can get chlamydia tests with instant results from Superdrug

Milo might be right, you can test for BV at home, quickly. Photo attached

there are charts for discharge colours and yellow seems to be infection or STI

user1492757084 · 09/06/2025 15:27

Speak with partner.
Poole resources and go private for a fast indication of what is wrong. You both need clarification and treament..
