They spent over an hour working on my garden so I want to give them something in return. I can’t make it myself and it needs to be from Tesco. Some kind of food gift I think

Flowers, chocolates, bottle of wine. Any of these would be a lovely gift.

A nice tin of fancy biscuits, or an afternoon tea?

RealPearlDuck · 09/06/2025 05:06

A box of nice chocolates or a bottle of really good wine!

I couldn’t decide on chocolates. My problem was different gifts mean different things. which chocolates would thank him for doing my garden and don’t insinuate anything or aren’t over the top or too little for an hours work. It was hard to judge. I have got them a cake to share with their wife. I hope it’s not the wrong choice

Why did you bother asking?

Why did you bother asking?

“Chocolates” “flowers” etc are all broad and obvious. There are different types of flowers, chocolates, biscuits that mean different things and it is hard to gauge. Wa also unsure what would be appropriate to spend on a gift for the work without being over or under the top. So I gave the situation and asked what kind would be appropriate

I think cake is a very good idea. I'd love it myself. It's friendlier than chocs and less formal than wine.
