To think this is actually bloody rude?

My colleagues and I were chatting at a team building day. One of them got really obsessed with taking selfies of all of us. Three of us are women in a small team, similar ages, and she took a few of us and then two of her and another girl - let’s call them Anna and Sarah. Anna, the selfie taker, then blurted out: “no one can outdo me and Sarah as we both just have SUCH pretty faces!”

The remaining members of the team are two men and me - I was in some of the selfies… I’m a woman similar in age to them and scrub up pretty decently. Have been told I’m pretty but who cares.

This woman seems to be quite impacted by my arrival into their small team and I’m getting a little annoyed. Is this rude or am I overthinking?

She sounds immature and insecure. I’d certainly be rolling my eyes, but couldn’t get worked up about it.

AwakeNotThruChoice · 01/06/2025 00:18

Yeah I wouldn’t give this any more thinking time.

Topjoe19 · 01/06/2025 03:10

I'd have burst out laughing tbh. Ridiculous!

Tillow4ever · 01/06/2025 03:32

I’d have been tempted to reply “good fucking job with that glistening personality”…

spoonbillstretford · 01/06/2025 03:40

Who says that? What a numpty.

Haretodaybadgertomorrow · 01/06/2025 03:44

“Well if apparently we are not all as pretty as you; at least we have good manners.”

Jeez! Is she nine years old? Or very young at least? I would laugh at this honestly; it’s too ridiculous! Not to mention unprofessional.

Team building days always bring out the oddballs!

andfinallyhereweare · 01/06/2025 03:50

I would have found it really hard not to laugh 😂 is she for real? Poor woman on second thought must be awful to be that insecure.

whatflite · 01/06/2025 04:03

Yes it’s a weird rude immature comment. But I think getting annoyed by it is stooping to her level - far better to just clock what type of person she is and move on

SayonaraZara · 01/06/2025 11:28

Thanks - the bit that annoyed me was that she included the other girl in the group and fully left me out. But that seems to be her style - divide and conquer

Is your colleague 12?

FeistyFrankie · 23/10/2025 02:38

She's trying to make you feel insecure by bragging about herself and excluding you. Which suggests that she's probably intimidated by you.

Anyway best to avoid these types at all costs, she sounds awful.

KarmenPQZ · 07/04/2026 17:03

‘Beauty before brains and all that’ would have been my reply
