Is he cheating

I looked at a notification on my partners phone. It was a screenshot of a dick pic. I was shocked and confronted him but he denied it was his. He gave two possible excuses 1-It was a virus on his phone 2-It was probably sent by a mate on WhatsApp. He's 59 and I think he has narcissistic traits. Is he cheating?

May not be cheating but he’s 99.99% lying.

What platform was it? If WhatsApp then he knows who it was to or from! How did he react? He does owe you an explanation so don’t let him shut you down however much he will try and minimise it.

‘It’s a virus’ is the kind of panicked lie I’d expect from a teenager caught watching porn, not a 59 year old who is clearly exchanging dick picks with other men.

How does he not know what happened?Surely he then opened his phone and saw the origins of the photo?

His panicked explanation screams lie. Why would you lie if you are not doing something wrong?

I would tell him you will assume he is cheating based on what you have seen unless he provides an explanation with proof that makes sense

There's no 'probably' about this. He opens his phone and will be able to see through what platform it was sent.

If it was, he’s sent it to someone. If not? Then someone is sending him dick pics. Find out who, and then go from there.

He's definitely lying but may not be cheating. Can you look phone to see his WhatsApp and gallery? Don't forget to check the recycle bin in gallery. You can see where pictures are from and the date if you gently scroll up on a picture. He could well be embarrassed to admit the story to you. Sit down with him calmly present your 'evidence '

I can't normally check his phone because he has a pin number lock on it. I only saw the screenshot as he'd left the phone on the chair and a notification popped up.
