Those who suggest MeetUp?

I was just reading another thread and there were suggestions of joining Meetup. These suggestions crop up frequently and I am slightly curious to find out if those doing the suggesting are Meet up attenders.

Meet up has pretty much died a death in my area. It still exists but the regular meetups are for gamers, business people or MLM people. The basic Meet up is at a pub quiz run by the pub. Nearby towns and city are the same.

Is meetup thriving elsewhere? Meet up is suggested so often it must be, unless those suggesting it are not active meeter-uppers?

I'm in London and meetup has loads of stuff going on. However I'm sure you have other suggestions you can add to the thread.

Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions to add to the thread, or I would have done so. Pleased to hear there is lots going on in London.

The group I'm on, for over 50s, does lots of varied things. However, I've also been in groups that die a slow death and I think it depends a lot on the energy of the group organiser. In the over 50s group there are several organisers arranging different things.

I tried a few meetup groups, all of them had creepy men letching after the women. Since then I've seen meetup recommended for people to meet a partner who don't want to use OLD so maybe thats why. Didn't know meetup was still a thing! I've since joined some women's social groups on Facebook with much better success 😊

Meet-up has raised its fees so groups are moving off it unfortunately. Some not all.

Following my DH death l after about a year joined a Meet Up group. The group eventually disbanded but l made wonderful friends who l will have for life. We holiday together, and socialise and support each other. As an older woman these female DF s have been a wonderful supportive network

I live in an outer London borough, and it wasn't that great here, last time I looked. Not much going on, and the things that were all started before I got home from work.

I wonder have you looked at eventbrite, some things can be free to attend others do charge. If you live in or near a city there can be loads of things going on.
