When/how did you say you love someone

I've been seeing a guy for about two months, and it's all going great, we've said it feels like it's been like we'vewe've both had moments where we've said we're starting to feel the beginnings of love for each other(he said after the first month,me about 6 weeks) but I've realised today that I'm in love with him.
I don't know how or when to say it!? It's his birthday next Monday on the 28th and won't see him from since yesterday to potentially nearly 2 weeks(due to the fact he's not met my son/family/work commitments and I need to wait until my son goes to his dad's for my next free weekend)

How many times have you even seen each other in two months??? Seems very soon to be saying you’re in love!

FlourandFlowers · 21/04/2025 15:20

About eighteenth months for us to say it in person.

We loved each other, and knew it from actions rather than words. We've been married for over ten years now, and have a genuinely happy marriage.

It's his birthday coming up on the 28th this month and I won't see him,I had an idea to spell 'I love you' in some scrabble fridge magnets and send him a picture of it?He's a quirky guy and might like that, plus I thought it takes the pressure off the moment abit 😅
What do you all think?
How did other's say I love you and when?x

We've had weeks where we've spent up to 4 days together, other weeks it may be only once due to my DS and work. We text, voice note and call each other all day though.

DH said it within about a week and it’s a running joke that I absolutely panicked and said I was relatively fond of him in return 😂

if you think he would like the scrabble letters then it’s very sweet, but as others have said above, still take it slow - it’s very early days and if you have kids you need to protect then despite feeling like you both are in love you need to slow it down to protect them.

SantasLargerHelper · 21/04/2025 15:28

Personally I think that's very early. I'm 4 months onto a lovely relationship but still learning all about him. Not sure you can fully know someone initially, they're on their best behaviour as are you. It's possible to get love mixed up with those amazing honeymoon hormones of infatuation.

Arlanymor · 21/04/2025 15:30

If someone told me they loved me after two months I would run away - I would concerned that they were infatuated rather than in love. The only difference being if we had know each other for a long time and it had only recently turned romantic. To be honest there is no 'right' amount of time but in my experience it has been about six months, which each time has felt right and been reciprocated by the other side of the partnership who didn't mention it first.

It was almost immediatel for us. We knew it was love straight away so I'd say it was said within a couple of weeks We were engaged within 6 months after Dh proposed them married 18 months later. We're still together, 28 years after meeting..

Well,we're in no rush to introduce each other to our children(he has a DD who's 14,my DS is 8) that can happen as and when we feel ready but not for a few more months yet tbh

It was pretty quick for us. It just jumped out of my mouth after 2 weeks and he said it straight back. We got married 18 months later and that was 17 years ago. It’s been a very happy marriage.

BeerAndMusic · 21/04/2025 23:20

I said it 2-3 weeks in - had seen each other quite a bit and I simply said "I think I am falling in love with you " which was hedging my bets and she said the same. There is no set time, if you feel it after a week then say it. If its 6 months thats fine.

Lemonsugarpuff · 21/04/2025 23:36

We had been together about a month. DH suddenly woke me up in the night and said “I need to tell you something…”. I said “I love you too”. And then we went back to sleep 😂. We’ve been married 10 years next month.

When you know, you know. If you feel it, say it!
