I'm British born and have had a relationship breakdown after 6 years..she got very sick and I had to take time off work to support her and my 9 year old step daughter but in the process I lost my job which I hadn't had for very long, I got into debt missing payments all the time for almost everything..I tried to talk about it all with my partner but her response is to split up with me and throw me out the house..now on one occasion I stayed in a homeless shelter and had all my Identity documents stolen along with my driving licence and bank card..my partner has now found a new bloke to be with and I'm going to be on the street again..I have no money and no identity documents to claim benefits the only property I have is my phone but I'm about to lose my phone number too as I owe Vodafone money..where do I even start to get help when I can't even prove who I am for benefits work and even charities..I'm so lost and some help on what to do first or where to go would be massively apriciated ..and thank you in advance.

Can you check online for your nearest homeless charity? They should be able to advise you or point you in the right direction for help and support.

Citizens Advice will help.

When your documents were all stolen did you file a police report? And did you not get a new bank card?

You don’t necessarily need the id docs to claim benefits. Lots of people don’t have any. They can id you other ways. You also don’t need a bank account. Or an address (a care of one is fine). Make a claim online today and go from there. If you need help with it then call help to claim. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/claiming/contact-us-about-universal-credit/

Contact us about a Universal Credit application

Get help making a new claim for Universal Credit, from the making the application through to getting your first correct payment.
