Said To a friend I was nervous about a work presentation. Their reply which has been on more than one occasion. ‘Oh that’s the reason why I wouldn’t do a higher paid job or ‘they would have to pay me extra to do that’. I’m getting a bit fed up of these comments. I was just hoping for some reassurance and I just got hit with this. It has pissed me off as it’s obviously coming from somewhere. I don’t know what the best way would be to approach it.

Sounds like they’re using your nerves to justify their life choices. Says more about them than you.

i became confident at presenting when i looked at it differently. People are there to hear what you have to say, so you’re just talking to them. They’re not expecting you to be a BBC News presenter or holly willoby (no idea re spelling). I also did a few year 10 assemblies which are brutal so presenting to interested adults is so much easier after that!

Some people won't understand your work challenges or why you put yourself through the anxiety to give a presentation.
