Dating with an HRT patch

StubbornStool · 23/03/2025 21:27

I’m not dating but as I got undressed tonight I realised how bloody ugly my patch looked. If you’re dating and after hot sex and flirting and stuff, do you remove the patch? I’d forget to put it back on.

Maybe yours looks great mine looks bloody awful. All wrinkly

I honestly don’t think a man would notice in the heat of the moment…! I’d just be upfront about it and say it’s my HRT patch if asked. It really isn’t a big deal.

BCBird · 23/03/2025 21:29

I agree with the post above.

ForAzureSeal · 23/03/2025 21:31

Would never cross my mind to take it off... But then I'm not dating and no idea what anxieties/worries that would bring up for me. I would really hope you don't feel the need to. Good luck!

StubbornStool · 23/03/2025 21:33

Maybe I’m just not applying mine right but I did double take as it looked like the worst ever creepy cellulite

Yeah mine looks like that too but it doesn’t bother me. They’re not the most attractive of things but they do their job!

StubbornStool · 23/03/2025 21:35

Of course I realise they are a good thing but I just don’t want my arse to look horrific

as I type that I realise I’m not dating so no one‘s typed that I realise look at it but I just wondered if it’s a thing for women who are 😀😀

Any man worth dating wouldn’t care!

OudAndRose · 23/03/2025 21:37

I am single and did wonder about this when I first had them! But quickly switched to gel because it suits me better so have not had to deal with it. I am young-ish (43) to be on HRT so it doesn't feel very sexy to explain to a new partner, but I do realise any man worth his salt wouldn't care.

MiddleAgedDread · 23/03/2025 21:37

I was using patches when I got with my BF. I told him about them before we ever slept together and it didn’t bother him. I used baby oil to take the sticky residue off that they leave behind when they fall off or you change them. I’ve since changed to gel and pills (because the patches fell off far too often) and he often comments how he misses playing “find the patch” when we’re being intimate! Now I’m using the gel i tend to wander round the house in my knickers every evening for 10minutes while it dries so he’s not complaining about that!

Miffyisverymiffed · 23/03/2025 21:42

Other meds come in patch form, even iron supplements, if you don't want to say it's HRT. But frankly, any bloke who made a derogatory comment about it would be going straight in the bin. Maybe you could use it as a litmus test for good character 🤔

ThatHazelGuide · 23/03/2025 21:46

As a perimenopausal woman I love my patch and my patch loves me. I wouldn't be without it.

Any man worth his salt can handle the patch. I wouldn't want a man who couldn't.

Midnight19 · 23/03/2025 22:02

I’ve not had a problem, he just asked was it a diabetes patch and wasn’t bothered when I said it was HRT. In fact he loves for the effect the hormones have on me (sex surge). As others have said if it was a problem then he’d not be for me.

UnemployedNotRetired · 23/03/2025 22:05

(as a man) I wouldn't know what it was, and probably wouldn't ask. Or I'd ask later maybe.

wherever123 · 23/03/2025 22:06

I am also single and realised a little while ago that not only can you see the patch but also outlines of where the past few have been - attractive!

LSGXX · 23/03/2025 22:09

I switched from the combined patch to the oestrogen gel and the progesterone table. I really didn’t like the look or the feel of the patches. They’re not the sexiest things but I’m sure most men wouldn’t care.

Missj25 · 23/03/2025 22:23

What kind of patches are ye talking about ?
I’m on 75 g estradot patch & it’s this tiny transparent little thing , you’d hardly even see it , is there other kinds of patches?
I don’t know if this even makes that much of a difference to me being honest & ye seem very impressed with yrs??

PrettayGood · 23/03/2025 22:25

I’m married and have been for a long time. It’s shallow, but I won’t have a patch because of the un-sexiness of it. I have gel instead.

Mudflaps · 23/03/2025 22:29

I remember being about 16 and worrying about a few spots because I had a date planned and was afraid the fella would notice them, my aunt told me 'if he gets close enough to see them he won't be thinking about them so don't be worrying' and I think the same goes for a HRT patch, if you're in a position (pun intended) in which a fella can see it on your arse/stomach/thigh, well by then the patch will be the last thing on his mind!!! Don't be about it one little bit. I've a single male friend in his 50's who would absolutely love to meet someone and I can guarantee it'd take a lot more than a HRT patch (or wrinkly cellulite) to put him off.

littleburn · 23/03/2025 22:47

I am completely shallow and use gel for this very reason 😂

Horationor · 23/03/2025 22:54

My husband knows that without my patch the chance of getting a shag is about 0%....he's never complained about it!!🤣🤣

Mine were Everol and they’re at least an inch square. They also left marks on my skin so my abdomen and bum area looked like a patchwork quilt of eczema!

I also didn’t want to use the patch when dating - not because of what a man thought but because it made me feel unsexy. In particular it was the grubby ring that was left around the outside of the clear patch once it rubbed against my clothes. I also struggled with the gel so have instead been on the Lenzetto spray the last couple of months and really like it. Still figuring out the dosage but as far as ease of application goes, this is definitely the best. Good luck and if something doesn’t make you feel good about yourself, it’s not vain to look into other options - especially when the meno screws with your confidence in so many other ways too!

I just don’t find the patches help with that terrible down & out feeling..
Does the lenzetto spray help with that ?
I don’t find my doctor that great either being honest, she put me on antidepressants then as to which they made me feel worse 😔, I came off of them , any advice to help with that , It really is the worst part of the menopause for me , it effects my day to day life ….

kshaw · 24/03/2025 08:25

My fella noticed mine as I was struggling to get the black marks left by sticky stuff. Nail varnish remover works and he hasn't commented since
