creating adult friendships / questioning sexuality

Hi everyone - new to the site. it’s Saturday night and I’m sat at home feeling sorry for myself. I’m lonely and have been for some time. I struggle with social anxiety and building friendships and this feels harder as I get older (I’ve just turned 40). Have recently lost a couple of friendships and it’s knocked my confidence.

additionally I'm struggling with my sexuality and think I'm bi. but I don’t have anyone i can open up to or talk about things with.

does anyone have any good suggestions of websites (other than this one)to build friendships and connections? I’m not particularly confident (you can prob tell!) and not ready to explore my bisexuality so really not looking for hook up sites or anything like that.

Well, I’m no expert but have you tried one of the ‘friend’ apps?

Also volunteering can be a good option. This could range from volunteering in a charity shop to being a charity trustee.

I also consciously try to go along to local events, just to get out there. Perhaps you then start to see the same people at different events and gradually get acquainted.

You can try the app Bumble for new friendships 😃 There’s a BFF section for friendship only. I also recommend volunteering and maybe joining a running group like I did. Could you perhaps walk a dog if you don’t have your own? I unexpectedly met one of my best friends walking my dog 🐶
