Friendship

Hi all I’m in a situation with one of my friends. Every time we hang out it’s only because I ask to and she doesn’t say no but she never asks me? When we’re together everything is fine and there’s no bad blood between us ever. She had a friend CH who I don’t like and she’s aware I don’t like her. I have no problem with her hanging out with CH and would never get between them. But I had a baby about 8 months ago and it seems she never asks to do things with me and I always invite her round my house we never go anywhere else but she tells me what she does with CH like go out and do fun things. She had a problem with CH 2 weeks ago and told me about how CH never asks her to meet up and I supported her even tho she’s doing exactly the same thing to me but yet she’s resolved her situation with CH and is now going to a concert with her. It’s pissing me off but I feel if I approach her with this she will just shut off and not speak to me.

If your friend doesn’t add positively to your life, maybe it’s time to let go.

I get it op. I’ve realised that some people are doers and some are accepters. I have friends like this and indeed family. We invite them over to dinner or a bbq, we all have a great time but they never reciprocate. I either have to stop inviting or just suck it up! It’s weird. We always have a great time. They tell me so and it’s genuine.
Maybe your friend is struggling g to see you the same way since you’ve had a baby. Try telling her you still want to go out. Ask her if she wouldn’t mind planning something or try to suggest turn taking. Say something like “ Had a really good time last time we went out but I don’t want to make all the choices, what do you want to do? I’m happy to go along with your ideas.”
