That's still me. 30 years together and separate houses. If it is doable and affordable it is definitely the recipe for a great and enduring relationship with no resentments and no obligations. Selfish maybe, but who cares, we've only got one life!

The late Robert B. Parker (very successful American author) was married for 40+ years to his wife Joan. They owned a huge Victorian house in Boston and he lived on the top floor, Joan lived on the bottom floor and they had a shared living space in the middle😂. They both credited the living arrangement for their long and successful marriage.
