Was my husband being an arse?

Or am I hormonal and overly sensitive?

It might even make you laugh.

He's done this a couple of times now and last night I pulled him up on it.

I'm in the middle of a difficult cross stitch pattern currently, I'm no pro and it's a new years thing I'm trying out (to avoid wine and phone scrolling mostly), so anyway on a couple of occasions when I've been engrossed in it trying to work out which square to do next, he deliberately talks to me and goes into detail way more than he normally would in a conversation, because he's trying to wind me up and distract me from what I'm doing. Obviously finds it entertaining to distract me!?

Why is he being like that? I think it's because maybe I'm short with him when I'm trying to focus and he's getting me back. But I'm fuming today over it because he's never usually like this.
Am I being OTT?

I'm another one who thinks he's being a dick.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 03/02/2025 19:58

No you're not. In fact, I believe that's why the Bayeux Tapestry took so long to finish. Constant interruptions by the menfolk saying things like;

"My horse wasn't that skinny, you've made him look skinny, can you change that?"

"Those arrows are a bit wonky, someone could have lose an eye if we used an arrow like that."

(Of course, this was all with a French accent.)

He's being a dick. Like a little boy poking an teasing someone until they shout or cry just so he can get a reaction. Attention seeking and pathetic.
I'll charitably assume he thinks he is being funny rather than deliberately sabotaging you because he doesn't like you paying attention to something other than him. But I'd go for one clear and calm response next time he does it of explaining very clearly what he is doing and why you don't like it and to please stop doing it.
Then stab him with a needle everytime he does it thereafter 😆

MounjaroOnMyMind · 03/02/2025 20:02

He's a complete dick and wants to stop you doing something you love so that you can focus on him.

This ^

outerspacepotato · 03/02/2025 20:04

Asshole.

He's deliberately not letting you enjoy some down time with a hobby and winding you up.

He's a brave one, poking at someone working with a needle. Get a bigger needle.

MounjaroOnMyMind · 03/02/2025 20:10

He's like a kid, isn't he, where any attention is better than no attention.

dapsnotplimsolls · 03/02/2025 20:14

He's an arse. Make use of those needles.

Laurmolonlabe · 10/05/2026 20:44

leave your pincushion near his foot- it always works for me.

seriousandloyal · 11/05/2026 19:43

Arse

BleedinglyObvious · 11/05/2026 20:02

It's not a good idea to wind up hormonal and overly sensitive women wielding needles.
