What rubbish have you and your DP debated today?

DH and I sometimes talk absolute rubbish and I'm wondering whether we're weird or if everyone does this. Two particular topics of conversation today:

  • Is Fight Club soap (made with discarded fat from liposuction) vegan?
  • Did David Bowie ever wear slipper boots?

I'm very happy with our relationship, just wondering!

DH, DS and myself went to see the new version of Nosferatu at the cinema. Before going we debated its possible violence level. Afterwards we discussed its Hammer Horror moments and whether it was odd that one if the main characters is the bloke that narrates Salvage Hunters.

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 12/01/2025 23:06

This is entirely normal.

What colour the silicone should be round the bath, whether the carpenter should come back and fix and minutely wonky cut they made.

If the soft toy hen that MIL got us for Easter last year were real, would she lay white or brown eggs. (Brown.)

Is The Terminator a horror film. (This was quite one-sided as DP doesn't really care. It's not a horror film though.)

We spend an inordinate amount of time discussing the birds in the garden and what they're up to.

Who made the better version of the song "Here comes my Baby", Cat Stevens or The Tremeloes. Ultimately unresolved, but it enlivened a boring trip around Morrisons this afternoon.

(And it still has to be Cat Stevens, no matter what my husband thinks.)

Whether or not geese eat sardines 😂

Why Americans call a main meal an entrée when it's not the first meal you have

We just started watching Severance. As an outie would you stay up really late at night in order to get more waking hours of consciousness, and would the fact that you don’t remember any of the working day mean you were less mentally tired or more because you haven’t had mental stimulation? (appreciate that makes no sense if you haven’t seen it!)

Is it acceptable to go to Go Ape as grown adults and leave the kids at home?

Animal facts, my favourites being sloths have such a slow digestive system that they can stave to death on a full stomach, and that male koalas always thrust exactly 43 times 😊

We talk nonsense constantly

That's exactly the sort of thing we discuss. (Depends on the colour of her leg feathers. Or leg plush.)

That sloth fact is incredible

I read somewhere about some geese that were fed fish and their flesh (when cooked) tasted of fish so probably not a good idea!!!

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 13/01/2025 09:37

The sloth fact has been relayed to my team at work.

DH was away for work (but not actually doing anything for the majority of Saturday and Sunday, just an hour on each say).

We had a debate whether the housework or the tax returns made for a more boring weekend
