Lighthearted- matching with people who aren't even in the country!

Lighthearted (mostly!) But I have the worst luck matching with guys on dating apps who are either just about to go away or are already on holiday so won't be around for a while. It's become a running joke in my friendship circle! I find it hard to stay interested in chatting for 2 weeks with someone I haven't met yet, or only met a couple of times. Went on two dates recently, went fantastic (we both agreed) and now he's off to USA for 3 weeks. Grrrr!

Should we unite to demand dating apps introduce an "upcoming leave dates" box as mandatory on profiles so we can avoid these lucky people? 😂

Good things come to those who wait 😂

I'm not actively dating but I've been consciously improving my social life/networks over the last year.

Maybe it's a age thing (rhymes with "naughties" 😉) but I find I'm now a lot more inclined to be attracted to men who are physically "there" rather than all the transient mysterious workaholics I used to date.

I was at a dinner with a lady who was doing the whole "met an impressive stranger on train, meeting him halfway in a cool city" thing.

Good for her, but I just felt tired even thinking about it for me.

Too much time thinking about pinning down 3rd dates or getting to the 3rd month, ultimately never went anywhere! Part me and part them.

It's great the world is transient, but if every social space is full of people wanting holiday romances it's annoying....

Used to be exciting, now I just want to pick from Dave who I regularly see at badminton or Joe I see at chess in the pub (I don't play badminton or chess but you get the drift).

You're giving up on someone because he's going on holiday?
