Playing a joke on DP. Would it be too cruel?

I posted this in chat too, not sure where it fit best.

There is an island off Venice that is supposed to be the most haunted place on earth. It is completely abandoned and has this old hospital on it etc.

DP really wants to go and has suggested the we holiday in Venice, hire a boat and go across to this island to take photos and have a look around.

I thought it would be hilarious to agree to this, get him across there then "loose" him on the island and take the boat back to the mainland leaving him there for the night.

Do you think this would be going too far, dangerous etc? I'd love to do it and I'm sure he'd laugh about it afterwards...? I'm unsure what to do. We would be going with friends so we're thinking of leaving him and his mate there so he wouldn't be totally alone.

A joke or below the belt?

Would you fancy him doing that to you?

To love and care, honour and hold...

I have quite a wicked streak of humour but no, would never do that to lovely dp.

Yay! It worked, (Raspberry's head swells!) lots of MNers were very supportive of Cherry on the Playstation thread.

RaspberrySheep · 02/05/2008 19:03

...Oh Noooooooo! Posted the link on the wrong bloody thread! I knew it was too good to be true! (Raspberry's head shrivels back down to size!)

Just found this. Cherry, you can't be serious.

All others please read on:

The hospital has since closed down, and the island is uninhabited. It is not open to tourist, and its ashy beaches remain deserted. Recently a family sought permission to visit the island, hoping to buy it cheaply and build a vacation home. The left before the night was over and have refused to comment on the reason for their abrupt departure, The only fact known is that their daughter's face was ripped open by "something" and needed twenty stitches.

A few people have dodged the light police patrol that guards the island, and all have sworn never to return. They say the moans and screams that reverberate around the island are unbearable. There is a feeling of the most intense evil, and one misguided thrill-seeker, upon entering the deserted hospital, was told, "Leave immediately and do not return."

Janos · 04/05/2008 18:01

WTF? Why would you want to do that?

IF you are actually being serious then no, it would be incredibly cruel.

allgonebellyup · 04/05/2008 18:37

what is the island called?

i wanna google it!

allgonebellyup · 04/05/2008 18:38

sorry, someone's already said the name!

WigWamBam · 04/05/2008 18:51

You've posted before about your dh's sense of humour and playing stupid jokes on him, so you knew what the response was going to be before you posted.

Horrible, horrible, horrible idea. Particularly if you're supposed to care about the man.

Why are you still with him? Or, perhaps more to the point, why is he still with you?

allgonebellyup · 04/05/2008 18:57

is this a wind up??

Janos · 04/05/2008 19:11

The island is called Poveglia. The first thing I did was look it up when I read the post .

I love a good ghost story!!

wurlywoo · 04/05/2008 19:43

Oh dear! why would anyone want to do this to their dearly beloved? deeply concerning....

I know men can be pains in the arses but this maybe taking it too far?!?

Think my DP would actually hunt me down and kill me if I did something like this and I wouldnt even if he does do my head in when he lives on planet Mars half the time!
