Difficult MIL affecting DP / uninterested

My DP's mother has always been complex and doesn't seem to have any real affection for her son despite all he does for her. No gifts, cards, calls yet he tries so hard with her to support her. She's ND but the sad part of me thinks she genuinely may not be maternal/not interested in him any more than just a servant, and I can see my DP continually be let down/disappointed. Just asking if anyone else has faced this and how they have supported their DP.

Has she changed, or has she always been this way?

LittleOwl153 · 19/12/2024 07:40

Does he have siblings? How is she with them?

Realdeal1 · 19/12/2024 08:05

@LittleOwl153 no siblings, @SlightDrip yes, very much like this. It seems to be a constant thing with him hoping she changes. But i think she just sees him as someone to help her but doesn't give anything in return.
