Painfully Single 40ish Mumsnetters

Recently there have been a few threads where MN posters of about 37-42 years old fret about being single. I thought maybe it would be nice to have a thread where people in that cohort can chat and network.

I used to go to Vegas for NYE. This year I will be dogsitting. I feel like maybe I’ve given up on myself a little and that perhaps I should be more social again. I am still sometimes approached by men but I’m not dating with any real intentionality

46 and thrilled to be single after 20 years marriage with a narc. I enjoy singledom a lot and have no intention to give up unless I find someone I am really into and adds to my life (and me to his of course).

I'm 47 and have decided to enter my crone era several decades too early because I cannot be arsed with the entanglements of someone else in my life. I've decentered men, I have my dog, and most importantly I've got my peace and quiet. Bollocks to anything else.

Yep. I have the time of my life, I have my friends, I am financialy independent, I will soon have a dog. In terms of sex I have a FWB.
Unless I find someone it’s worth giving up my freedom, I do not intend to allow any man ruin it for me again.

Ok but this isn’t for you? I swear if someone started a thread on here saying the sky is blue 3/4 of responses would be “well ACTUALLY it’s pink near my house when the sun’s setting.”

I started this thread because recently I’ve seen 2-3 threads from women who seem to want the opposite of what you want. Why not just leave it if it’s not for you?

I don’t understand your reaction OP. Didn’t you ask for people of a certain age who are single to give you an opinion?
My opinion is that life is amazing and you can have fun as a single UNTIL you find someone to fall in love. I have been on both sides and I can vouch I am happy in both. Is your problem the age range 37-42? Sorry to say but 42 is not far from 46.
Please do some work with yourself and 1. understand what triggered you on what I said 2. learn to communicate and talk. 50% of attractiveness is someone who knows how to talk and communicate. Do something about it. You have a big problem.
