Solicitor told husband to not acknowledge divorce

I have filed for divorce as husband told me to so it’s mutual, he had to respond by 1st December which he hasn’t. A few days before this he mentioned marriage counselling which I declined. Now he said his solicitor has told him not to acknowledge the divorce yet? Would a solicitor do this? We do have other things to agree on yet but I don’t understand why the divorce can’t proceed. Would a solicitor do that? Thanks

Ask your solicitor why.

@Lis667 you will eventually be divorced even if you have to use non cohabitation!

Ask your solicitor why.

She said the only reason she would think is that he wants to reconcile, but I can’t buy him out until the 20 week order comes back, and he is living in the home u til then. So I personally think he’s trying to delay it for that.

Listen to your solicitor. That’s why you employ her. She knows the law.

You have a solicitor. Listen to her, not mumsnet.
Or get a second opinion (if possible) if you have doubt about your solicitor’s profession opinion and or her competencies.

Well, that’s what he is telling you his solicitor said. Not sure a solicitor would advise dragging out the inevitable - he can’t stop you divorcing him, no matter how much he drags his heels.
