I'm now bothered

I'm been friends with Chris for about 8 years. We get on really well but we haven't seen each other for a little while due to his job and I'm full on with uni.

We texted yesterday and we are going to meet up when he's back from holiday.

I deleted my Facebook app and went back on there yesterday and it came up on my news feed that he's on holiday with a girl called Claire. I clicked on her profile and it says she's been in a relationship with Chris since July. Seeing this has really bothered me. I want him to be happy but I don't want him to be with her, I want him to be with me.

I have previously thought of us together but I never knew, How to go about this as we have been friends for so long and I didn't want to ruin our friendship.

Now he's with someone I can't do anything about it.

Totally normal to feel gutted finding out he has a girlfriend. Allow yourself to mourn what could have been. Would it be best to cancel meeting up after his holiday (think of an excuse)? 2025 is a new start for you!

The thing is, he's a really good friend and I wouldn't want to loose him as a friend. I will still meet up with him.

I think you perhaps missed the boat with this one. But circumstances never seemed to be quite right for you getting together.

All you can do is still be his friend, be happy for him and you never know, it might be the beginning of something new for you too.

It might not last. Wait till he finishes with her then jump on him! 🤣
