Would love to hear any positive stories from people who gave found genuine, close friendship in their forties and beyond?
Although I have quite a few friends, from different areas and times of life, I'm really missing having a close friend who lives nearby and who I could meet regularly.
Have had a bit of a sting recently from a friend who I thought was lovely but true colours have shown and this has ruptured what I thought was a solid friendship group.
I'm quite a friendly, open person and I'm interested in others but just feeling a bit lonely and would love to have that connection that a close friendship brings. My family of origin is dysfunctional and trust isn't really there - so feel a bit lost in the world!
I know friendships can take quite a while to build and take mutual effort etc. Would love to hear if this has been possible for anyone over 40 and without the past years of mutual experiences & memories from youth.
