Message asking why I deleted them

I had to delete someone off Facebook today. Just fed up of the hate speech and anger from some people. I had to cull a few people months ago. This person has inboxed me now asking why they have been deleted. I just find it is not good for my mental health seeing this hatred. There is no point me unfollowing them because the angry, hatred and mental health issues of that person would still be there if we met in person. I would feel I am walking on egg shells.

Just block them from messages and ignore. You don't have to justify yourself to them. I've been culled from plenty of people's FB, just losing touch with them. I don't send angry messages asking why!

Crazy that they even noticed so quickly! I personally just wouldn't reply to this type of person. I find people who are a bit crazy on Facebook tend to screen shot and put up arguments they've had and if you get into it with them they may jump on the chance for some drama.

Just ignore them.

Hatty65 · 07/11/2024 12:34

Don't respond. You deleted them for your own mental health. You don't owe them a justification.

You can delete someone just cos you're bored that they post 14 photos of their stupid cat/child/meals every day, frankly.

I just block them. Had to do this with someone who sent me a message saying "hey you unfriended me!" 2 days later he asks why I've unfriended him and he's "perplexed" as to why I've done that.

We were friends for 6 months and had one conversation. I wasn't happy with the way that went.

Is it about the American election @Claire926 ?

A contributing factor. Always negative about politics.

I would just reply that you avoid discussions about politics and religion as it can lead to arguments. That you only want to use Facebook to catch up with people and watch a few cat memes etc.

I told him why I deleted him. He seemed surprised and said he didn’t think his posts were bad then tried to deflect the blame on others! I did the right thing deleting him, he can’t even take responsibility for what he did.
