Obsessed with someone from work, what do I do?

I have worked in my work place for 4 years now. My works is very busy I work with about 200 people. I've always found this one man who is my age (25) quite cute but never thought much of it.
I saw him on the train a few months back and he seen me embarrassingly drunk but when I saw him in work we both just laughed about it and he's the same half the time.
So when I've been seeing him in work we've been flirting quite a bit.
I went on a night out an he happened to be there in a club at the end of the night with a couple of other people I know from work I only bumped into them the last hour of the night. We all walked to the taxi rank and some girl came out the club an he ended up going back home with her so he was probably with her during most the night when I was elsewhere.
I know this sounds so weird but I have badly caught some kind of feelings for this person I hardly know.
My friends are telling me to just message him but I have to see him in work and I just can't take the embarrassment of him rejecting me then having to see him everyday in work.
Opinions please????
No judgement!

I have had a couple of workplace romances blow up in my face so I personally would steer clear.

I'm crying myself to sleep about this person 😂 I'm so weird I don't know why I'm being like this over someone I barely know!

It's a crush, it'll pass.

Try and keep busy and not message him. Best to keep work and private life separate imo.

Hang on to that feeling when you get the urge to message him!

Same
Well more than a couple but I've worked there over 20 years
All ended in disaster
Very awkward

I'd only ever go for it if I felt like it was 'the one' who I could envisage a lifelong relationship with. In those cases you just have to go for it. NOT worth it for a crush or a fling.

They can do assuming he is single?
why not ask him out for a drink or out to eat of a lunchtime other than the office canteen
used to happen to me in Paris .a French woman ask to eat together..
it may be he’s itching to ask you? But to shy

Bungymdw · 13/10/2025 22:02

Yes true but if you’re both single just go for it
if not . Don’t create a mess for all concerned
self included

This thread is a year old.

Perhaps neither of them even work there anymore 🤷‍♂️
