AIBU? 1st date postponed twice

So I've been speaking to someone OLD for a few weeks. We were meant to meet last Tuesday however he cancelled as he had to take his father to a hospital appointment. Fair enough.
We re arranged for tomorrow however he called me earlier to say he "forgot" about our date and had arranged to go golfing and could we make it another day.
I was busy so told him I would have a think about it and get back to him.
I've decided that our 1st date was obviously not that important to him if he simply forgot about it and made other plans and I told him that I was no longer interested and I wasn't interested in re arranging meeting.
Am I being unreasonable?

YANBU - he’s definitely not prioritising you. Step away.

TwistedWonder · 20/10/2024 19:28

You’re doing right thing. Often in these cases they’re arranging other dates and keeping several women in the back burner.

In the bin with this one

User364837 · 20/10/2024 19:29

Nope totally reasonable of you.
Put it out of your mind and move on

First excuse; fine, second excuse; he’s just not that into you. Throw him back and start again.

This, with added 'training you to accept crumbs'. Also, cancelling in person stuff makes me wonder about catfishing.

Thank you,
My gut instinct was right i just wondered if I was being too hard

I agree - he could have rearranged the golf if it is golf .

The statement about people treat you the way you accept been treated .. you have done the right thing here

AutumnLeaves24 · 20/10/2024 19:38

First time fine (presuming it was the truth) second time NO, your date was booked first, he should have rearranged the golf when he realised he wasn't free.

plus, while honesty is great, sometimes it's just not needed, he could have said he'd forgotten he had golf booked in. Idiot.

but you've done the right thing, forgetting your date ... he's obviously not that bothered.

Ivehearditbothways · 20/10/2024 19:42

I had this a year ago. First time he rescheduled due to something to do with his mum, second time he said he had twisted his ankle so couldn’t walk (but was at his friend’s game night so had managed to make it there).
I said the same as you, that first date being put off twice was clearly a sign that it wasn’t really worth having. Turned about to be a great thing because about 7 weeks after that, I met the guy I’ve now been with for almost a year and he’s great. Something better is around the corner for you!

Seems to happen a lot from what I've read on here
Probably married men just wanting the attention but having no intention of meeting up

Hatty65 · 20/10/2024 20:01

I'd be offended that he 'forgot' our date and arranged to play golf.

I'd expect him to call his golfing friend and say 'Sorry - I forgot I was already committed to something'. He didn't. He's not worth bothering with - what made him decide golf came in front of you once he realised he'd double booked? Presumably, just that he would rather play golf.

Not a keeper.

MrsTerryPratchett · 20/10/2024 20:10

what made him decide golf came in front of you

If it does the first time, it will always.

BlaiseBaileyFinneganiii · 20/10/2024 21:03

You did the right thing

dontcryformeargentina · 21/10/2024 00:57

helgel · 21/10/2024 04:40

It's just a game they play, very common these days.

Forget him. We're all proud of you for keeping the bar high.
