She wants to go on holiday

My friend wants to go away. I don’t want to go away with her as she is a drain and just moans about her problems. She would not pay petrol money. She always goes on about her ex who treated her badly yet she ignored the red flags at the beginning and still speaks to him. She can’t cope with being her dad’s carer. She does not realise I have my own life. She only contacts me when she is down. She has other friends and her sister but says she does not want to burden them!

But what's the problem in saying you don't want to go on holiday?

FeedingThem · 30/09/2024 13:05

Sorry Mandy,I don't really fancy there / have no holiday leave / don't think it's my thinig

Beamur · 30/09/2024 13:05

Yep. Just say no. Give any reason you want.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 30/09/2024 13:08

ok, so say no to her. It's really not hard. No thanks, I really can't go away, I don't want to go away / can't afford it / not doing it / whatever.

or - stop being her therapist. If you aren't enjoying the friendship then say so. What's the worst thing that can happen? someone you don't like and don't want to spend time with gets mad at you and doesn't want to be friends any more?
