Is this suspicious?

I matched with a guy and have been on two dates with him so far. We text regularly but I’ve noticed something a little odd.

After we’ve gone on a date, the following day I hear nothing from him. After the first date I messaged him first, and he responded pretty quickly. After the second date the same thing happened again - next day he just went silent on me. I reached out today but have heard nothing. The last date went really well too which is leaving me feeling confused.

He messages to check I’ve got home ok at the end of the date, but after that goes weirdly quiet. Seems to happen at the weekends. During the week communication is pretty consistent.

Am I right to be suspicious? It feels like he is in a relationship/married or something. It’s only at weekends he seems to go quiet. Rest of the time he responds maybe not super quick but there is definitely a drop off in communication over the weekend.

Am I being paranoid/overthinking or does this look shady?

No he’s not at work. Had plans yesterday so I wasn’t too bothered that I didn’t hear anything. Today seems weird though as I don’t think he mentioned that he was doing anything.

He's married.

He's married.

Oh I highly doubt that.

He's probably got a part time super hero job.
He may be in the Batmobile as we speak.

With Robin.

Has he got kids? Hobbies, work? He could in a relationship or dating someone else, But whatever the reason, if the communication isn't consistent, he's not really into you as a serious option.

blackfriday1 · 29/09/2024 20:01

I don't think the default assumption should be he's married. Given it's been two dates and I would assume you're not exclusive in anyway. he may well have other dates lined up for his weekends if he works throughout the week. He may also have decided after your second date he doesn't want to pursue it further. Equally he may have had a cracking time and just be busy with his own stuff this weekend and may not be overthinking the frequency or cadence of your messages to one another. I think it's a bit too early to say at this stage really, but as the old adage goes OP, if he wanted to, he would.

Most people on there are surely dating multiples.. either way he isn't too keen clearly so wouldn't waste my time tbf

Chickadoo · 29/09/2024 21:40

Could be playing games... wants to see if you'll double text/ text first/ be pissed at him taking awhile to reply.... probably boosts his ego and reassures him that you're into him.

You don't want a game player though

Houseofpainjumparound · 03/10/2024 11:15

Does he have an online presence at all? Facebook, insta, tik tok?

If he has nothing, even a private profile i would be suspicious he is hiding something

Runsyd · 03/10/2024 11:44

Probably married. But the fact is, he's not as keen as you need him to be. Stop chasing and get on with your life.

Chaiilatte · 03/10/2024 11:46

Sounds like he's married. Is he only seeing you on a sat night for example? And then goes silent the next day (probably his day off at home) and then messaging you in the week at work/ whilst his wife is in bed?

ForAmberBiscuit · 03/10/2024 11:47

Being married or in a relationship would not prevent him bashing a text out to you. I dont think that he is into you. Sorry. If he is like this now its best to nip it in the bud. Have a chat with him and then make a decision about jumping ship.
