Is this being rude?

Talking to my partner and he picks up some recycling and walks out the room and out the house whilst I was talking and doesn't feel this is rude. Then I left our side door unlocked, not on purpose, probably menopause fog, I was in a work meeting when he came home, so he whatsapp me a message to say it was open and we could have been robbed. I knew he had come in the house so carried on in my meeting, if it wasnt him I certainly would have done something. AIBU to think this is rude and quite petty to message me. I've repeatedly asked him not to keep going on at me if I forget something like locking the door ut to him the menopause is a convenient excuse.

He was rude to walk out whilst you were talking to him but you leave the door unlocked and don't expect him to say anything? My DP would message me if I had left the door unlocked when he got home and I would also do the same!

“talking to” …. i’m guessing it wasn’t a happy chat

chestnutroast · 28/09/2024 14:24

he may have messaged because he knew you were in a meeting

It sounds like you're feeling got at and defensive and he's not communicating constructively and quite disrespectfully.

I think it's fair for him to remind you to lock up etc but there's ways of doing it.

Maybe you could both work on communication together.

I was in the house at the time, we have a camera so could see who was coning in.
