Just curious what most peoples DH do when around the house? Do they sit in front of tv, do manual jobs around house , have naps?

Gardening, walking x3 dogs, going out in his classic car, taking our children out (teens), coming with me to my hobby ( occasional), housework, art, reading, listening to music, tv. He works very full time too is exhausted at the end of each day!!

Washes car, hoovers, sorts out finances, plays Fortnite, goes for a walk, spends hours researching cars, …

Secondstart1001 · 22/09/2024 20:51

DIY, gardening, match of the day, cleaning, researching holidays and events for us, walks, weights and workout. We usually do this stuff together plus watch Netflix and be intimate quite often!

Horationor · 22/09/2024 21:27

Cooks and housework a bit. Fishes/cycles
Not really a tv watcher but playstation player.

imverynosey · 22/09/2024 21:45

Golf and football. Much to my dismay sometimes it keeps him active and happy

Writes, plays instruments, records some, watches rubbishy old films with me, scrolls, conversations with me and dc about current affairs, reads, does crosswords, plans trips out and books tickets for us, listens to music, makes me laugh and then laughs at my and dc jokes, cooks new food ideas

tobee · 22/09/2024 21:54

Out of the house - goes on long walks.

nomorezoflora · 22/09/2024 22:16

Washing, cat-wrangling, cooking, hoovering, fixing stuff, noodling around on the Internet, reading, working, half hour exercise routine, occasional videogames in the late evening.

CountryGirlInTheCity · 22/09/2024 22:45

DH works long days so sometimes crashes out in the evening watching something easy on the TV, but otherwise….reading, cooking, playing chess, doing Wordle, looking up the football news, listening to me chatter on and smiling kindly(!), talking to a friend, video call with our adult DC…

We also choose one thing that we will watch together each evening, usually fairly short and no binge watching (just started ‘Couples Therapy’ season 2) then talk about it afterwards. After that the TV tends to go off.

He also does plenty outside the home, some with me, some with friends: walks, out for brunch at the weekend, mooch around the city we live in, pub, meet friends for dinner.

To keep busy? Anything that needs doing

Free time, in the house? TV, PlayStation, lie out in the garden, worlde/spelling bee/a scene a day, non-fiction books, TikTok, YouTube.

Free time, outside the house? Cinema, holidays, football matches, pub, he also loves clothes/shoe shopping!

Kiuyni · 22/09/2024 22:50

Chops wood, does the garden, fixes things, reads, plays a racing game on the ps5, does the occasional triathlon, walks the dogs, watches movies with me.

Rerrin · 22/09/2024 22:53

I don’t think either of us is around the house all that much, but today, we were all at home, (after DH worked yesterday, I was out on a hike from 8 am till 9 pm, and DS was at a friend’s house and playing in a match). Today DH made breakfast, supervised DS making pancakes, did a grocery shop, went to the gym, made dinner and we all watched a film together.i did homework supervision and gardening, and went for a long walk..

We watch very little TV, and if we need jobs done around the house we hire someone.

BigFatLiar · 22/09/2024 22:58

Does the cooking (always has been the cook) does the laundry (again always his job). Babysits grandchildren. Potters on the allotment. Volunteering. Reads. Watches telly. Sleeps.

I'm not a lot different, we're retired.

pinkdelight · 22/09/2024 23:30

Cooking, laundry, DIY, life admin, gardening, pretty much everything except cleaning which the cleaner does, though DH does the day to day stuff to stay on top of it. He does way more than his fair share, lots more than me, and my dad was the same. I feel lucky to have him.
