I have been marriage for 17 years. My husband is a bit immature he speaks without thinking. Yesterday we are in a social gathering. one of my cousin was there too. There is always a jealousy and rivalry element between us since childhood. She (cousin) cant see me happy.

A lady complemented me " you lost weight I heard your fitness routine is very good". My husband interpreted her and said if she will not stay fit i will leave her. My cousin was listening all this too😡😡. She smiled in a very sarcastic way.

My husband disrespected me in front of her. I had a big fight with my husband he saying it was a joke bla bla.

Am I overreacting or he disrespected me ?

I think your animosity towards your cousin has clouded this. Your husband made a poor attempt at a joke at your expense but he did it in front of someone you don't want to appear vulnerable to. Anyone else it probably wouldn't have mattered so much. Would have been better to have laughed it off as rising to it will give her more ammunition.

Your right to be angry.

After 17 years he should know to have your back, especially when your cousin is there, not take the piss and make jokes at your expense.
