Bumble for dummies

I've decided to dip my toe into the world of OLD after years of being in a dead marriage and so I've set up a profile on Bumble. I'm not paying for premium, just the free version at the moment. But I've no clue what I'm doing... help an old lady out please 😂 (in my late 40s so not actually old, just feel very out of touch). I'm out of the marriage now btw, so totally legit!

So... I swipe to say I like someone. If they also swipe / like... that's a match, right? Then what do I do? Am I right that I have to make the first move, as I'm female?

I then have notifications saying so and so has liked you, and it gives me a tick and a cross on their profile, so I've ticked as that one person looked half human. Then what do I do? It doesn't give me any option to like them back, or message them?? What the fuck do I do?

I've googled it but it only gives me help on how to start the conversation, ie ask them what star sign they are or some other daft suggestion

On the free version of Bumble you both have to swipe right to get a match and then ithe site sends you a notification and they appear in your matches. You then have to start the conversation. I am not sure how the paying version works but guess its more user friendly.

With Bumble you match if you both swipe right then they appear in your chats and you have 24 hours to send the first message.

The ones on the ‘liked you’ page you can’t tick from there, it’s to try and encourage you to pay

Bumble will often send a 50% off offer so it’s worth paying for a week if you get the £4.99 offer so you can see your likes - though 99% of them are totally unsuitable 🤣

Tbh unless you get an offer, it’s not worth paying for Bumble in my experience

I never used bumble but can I recommended "hinge", that one I can help you with 😂 plus it's great for filtering, you can select/unselect tgibgs you don't want. Example, smokers, drug users, drinkers etc even ethnicity & religion if you're that picky!

On bumble you'll see along the bottom you've got profile, for you, people, liked you, chats. Click on chats then at the top will be the profile pic of the person you matched with. Click on it to start a chat. Round the pic will be a yellow circle which will disappear bit by bit over 24 hours - if you don't start a chat the match will end once 24 hours are up.

Bumble isn't allowed that user friendly I don't think!

I think I've got it!
But def agree, Bumble is not user friendly! It's so clunky and seems like everything is hidden unless you pay... this is first time attempting to date, it was a big enough step to login so not ready to get the credit card out yet 😂

Might give Hinge a go!

If you match with someone, you have 24 hours to message them. They then have 24 hours to reply. After that, you can take as long as you like!
I believe if you set up one of bumbles leading questions, they cam message you first if you match, but don't hold out for most men doing that!!
You do need to develop a thick skin!
Good luck!

Hinge is very hit and miss. I’ve tried it with very little success - very few likes and almost no matches.

Ate you on FB? They now have a dating section which is free
