Weird one. My ex got a star named after my late grandma

My ex, at this point we were only together for 7 months. Got a star named after my late Grandma for me. Although it was a nice gift, I did get an uneasy feeling about it, maybe that that wasn’t his place to do so as he didn’t know my grandma or my family well enough to do that. Obviously now we aren’t together and it’s really getting to me that he has done that for us. (Ended very cold, and nasty on his part). I’ve contacted them and the only way it can be changed is through the person who has ordered it. I don’t want to contact him, but I also can’t help the upset I feel that that’s something he gave to my grandma and us. I hope that doesn’t sound to silly. Just wondering people’s thoughts.

thank you

So was it a gift to you? Or has he taken the certificate to keep for himself. The former is quite a sweet gift, the latter is just selfish as it would be meaningless to him.

Aquamarine1029 · 01/09/2024 12:35

Don't contact him and forget about it. It really doesn't matter.

Loopytiles · 01/09/2024 12:37

Drop it. Naming stars is a meaningless scam and it doesn’t matter.

BananaSpanner · 01/09/2024 12:37

Don’t give it a further thought. It was probably a nice gesture at the time. Ultimately, it’s nothing. It’s like ‘adopting’ a panda. Just a gimmicky money maker. You don’t have to feel weird about it. Certainly don’t contact him about it.

Echobelly · 01/09/2024 12:38

It's meaningless - no one is ever going to know the story behind it, let it go.

This. It isn't really* named that. The scientific community doesn't know that celestial entity by your late gran's name. Just move on.

Exactly.

Echoing PPs, it’s not real and doesn’t mean anything. The same way people can buy a ‘Lord’ title as a gift.

Crickets7 · 01/09/2024 12:45

All of the above, same goes for any goats he bought in random villages 💐

Edenmum2 · 01/09/2024 12:48

It's nonsense, why would it still bother you?

Edingril · 01/09/2024 12:48

None owns stars they can't really be named
