I’ve been separated 3 years. Very amicable but I feel we need to move towards divorce now. So we are at the early stage of looking into it. Recently I’ve felt I really want to revert to my maiden name.
I think it looks like I can do a free deed poll? Is it pretty simple?
A wee side issue - I am in the family home still. I pay the mortgage but it’s still in both our names and will continue to be for the next 2 years to keep our rate. I’m not sure if this will be an issue. Could I change name everywhere but with Halifax? Would I need to keep bank account in married name also? I don’t want to rock the boat as if we need to declare we are living separately it’ll cause problems with affordability calculation.
