This is rather bizarre but hear me out!!
Today I met a man in a beach, or rather I met a man and his dog.
His dog was hanging around the area o was in and helping himself to my snacks 😅
His owner, the man was shouting at him
To leave me and my
Snacks alone and said how sorry he was, that the dog was a savage for food and to find him when I'm in our only local pub the next time I'm there and he'll buy me lunch !!
I laughed and told him I'd hold him to it and he headed off!
Now this man was about ten years younger than me ie forty but v handsome and chatty.
I have no intention of finding him but would like to acknowledge him when I see him, which I undoubtedly will.
WWYD here. I'm single now.

Oh get yourself to the pub OP. You know you want to! Just walk in looking casual (but gorgeous and v hot) and if he's there say hello. Keep your expectations low, so you're not disappointed, but blimey, you're a long time dead.

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 12/08/2024 19:55

Is it likely he'll have his dog with him? Talk to the dog first. "Ah sorry, all my snacks are gone, I hope you're getting fed at home!".

People acknowledge my dog all the time in the park. I know them by their dogs. It's kinda expected by dog walkers 🤣

@EatCrow 🤣😂 fate, you say ...

No, completely engineered by the dog. ☺️

I go to the same beach to
Swim and relax each day and I think his holiday home is nearby also so I will see him there, if not at the pub, whether I like it or not !!!
I'll keep you updated, just for fun!
His dog is just gorgeous 🥰

What I meant was.. I have no interest in seeking him out for lunch! Sorry.
It's a holiday destination and there's one local pub/ restaurant. It's where all the visitors eat, drink, see a live band and
Relax.
That wouldnt put me off judging on it being the only social meeting point in this area!

If the dog is with him you could say hello to the dog first……

Delphiniumandlupins · 12/08/2024 20:03

Depends on the breed of dog, some are very good at weeding out nice/less nice people. Obviously you fall in the nice camp because you shared your snacks. Go to the pub but maybe not every lunchtime. Keep your expectations low, you may make a new friend.

topflite · 12/08/2024 20:04

He is a golden retriever and I don't know anything about dogs !!

I was going to guess GR but I'm a bit obsessed. My first one used to randomly join in football games. Just groups of friends playing butwhen he joined in one or two nice young men would make a big fuss of him and I always thought he was running interference for my (then single) DD

topflite · 12/08/2024 20:11

Well he certainly
Was a confident and friendly dog, as was his owner !

A golden retriever will be your friend for life now.

topflite · 12/08/2024 20:12

Guess I better get baking tonight for tomorrow so 😂

Their owners are fabulous people too

Go for it!

Would you walk up and introduce yourself to him if you were me? I was in a swimsuit , sunglasses and hair on top of my head so he may not recognise me which would be embarrassing 🤣

Was it a lab by any chance.....

But if you fancied him and fancy your chances, I'd absolutely talk to him if you see him. Make it jokey, "I believe you owe me lunch..." why not. Life's too short.

Wontletmeusemynormalname · 12/08/2024 20:23

Just saw it was a retriever, same as labs....greedy

LouH5 · 12/08/2024 20:27

Aw I love this!

I don’t think it means anything tnat he didn’t give you his number, it sounds like a very quick exchange and he may have felt offering his number was a bit full on, whereas a casual suggestion to bump into each other in the pub and him to big your lunch, is more chill form his end, he may have worried about looking too creepy by proffering his number following a 10 second interaction!!

He wouldn’t have said it if he didn’t like the look of you! If my dog did that to someone, I wouldn’t even jokingly suggest I owed them lunch, if I didn’t like the look of them!

Get yourself down to the pub and if you see him, make a joke of “what are the chances of seeing you here… if I remember right, your dog owes me lunch!”

And if it doesn’t go as you hoped, at least you can have a drink and enjoy the love music.

good luck!

NewLifter · 12/08/2024 20:33

I also would say this sounds lovely! Very flattering. I hope you see him again op!

topflite · 12/08/2024 20:36

I will definitely
Update you all for fun!
It will be tomorrow afternoon and/ or night but I'll definitely see him.. preceded by a large glass of wine 🫣

I've crossed all my fingers and toes for you. 🍀💐🍀💐

grumpygallbladder · 12/08/2024 20:43

A good looking bloke with a dog. I AM IN. Go in and say 'ah if it isn't the snack stealer!' to the dog, that way he can place you easier and you can have a chat. If nothing else you get to see the dog again. (Can you tell I am a dog lover?)

Iateallthechocolate · 12/08/2024 20:46

If you see him in the pub go and tell him " you may not recognise me with my clothes on, but I'm the one who shared my lunch with your dog on the beach". Then just smile and wait.
At the very least you'll get lunch and glass of wine, and a new friend ( well 2, the dog is already a friend for life)
