If you have been in the wrong relationship and wasting years of your 20s/30s etc hoping and willing that things would change, what would you tell your younger self?

Not to get married or have children, and to save up.

Honestly, I'd tell my younger self that it was okay. That no time was wasted, because it took me this long to grow and to learn and to become the person I am today. I would tell myself to embrace the lessons I can take away from being there and to pay very close attention to what it is I want to do differently the next time.
Regret is a horrible feeling.

Trust your gut, always

Thanks, I think this is my problem as my gut feeling knows I have to leave and I keep ignoring it.

Take him to court. He’s convinced you the world is flat, but it’s not. Don’t watch your daughter suffer thinking this is the best alternative. You will be believed.

Don't give in to pressure (early 80s) and get married at 22 in case "You're left on the shelf or people think you're a lesbian" - my mother's words.

Of course it was wrong and I was little more than a full time teacher, childminder, cook, cleaner etc etc but I shouldn't have separated because "It brought shame on her"
