What’s worse?

Looking for an outside opinion.

Is sleeping with someone else while you’re not together, but lying about it happening worse than
cloning your whatsapp to their phone to read all your messages from anyone; after you’ve got together?

little bit of context;

marriage ended and wanted to be single for a while, but best friend wanted to jump straight into a relationship.
Wasn’t sure what I wanted, but got overwhelmed by outside attention.
realised I didn’t want to lose best friend, admitted some of what happened but not every detail.
after we made things official best friend cloned my WhatsApp to their phone to read every conversation with other parties involved.

a year later and still seems to come up in arguments.

so much love for best friend and couldn’t be without him now but wish this would stop coming up.

just looking for an outside opinion

Them cloning my WhatsApp would have meant an automatic end of the relationship.

It's a massive breach of privacy and not one I could come back from.

I’m confused by what you’ve wrote, is your best friend now your boyfriend? Did you sleep with someone behind his back?

It doesn’t really matter. Someone cheated and the other person isn’t over it. You’ve both broken trust with the other. You might just be better as friends.
