Sorry if this has been asked a million times..
But which ones would you recommend.
My friends signed me up for date my friend one but everyone is as tight as me and not paid plus it's got quite negative reviews
I tried Match.com years ago but was scared as men were full on if I didn't reply immediately. I don't want dick pics which seems to be the POF lot.
An idea of price would be good.
Thank you so much 😀

Different platforms but same sausage. May as well stick with the free ones.

Bumble and Tinder are still the go-tos.

mrandmrsrobinson · 29/06/2024 14:14

Ourtime

or POF if you want casual

SamW98 · 29/06/2024 14:30

Ourtime is the over 50’s specific app but it’s horrendous.

Unless you’re into flabby pasty overweight men giving Norman Bates vibes wearing hi viz and posing topless with a giant fish. If that’s your thing it’s heaven if not avoid - there’s a whole thread on here about it!

I find Bumble the best of a pretty dire bunch or if you’re on FB give their dating a try.

Sookafatwan · 29/06/2024 14:32

Try SAGA connections for the over 50s.

QueenMegan · 30/06/2024 09:15

I'll give the giant fish murderers a swerve being a vegetarian.
With FB can your friends see you're on it and can they see your photos don't really want weirdos seeing my profile stuff....sorry i know these are stupid questions but im a bit dumb about such things

Most dating sites/apps are owned by same company. Google 'Match Group, Inc' they control most known dating platforms.

Unfortunately they all advertise as free but the sites are impossible to contact potential suitors without upgrading with £.

Tried 'Bumble' created by Tinder creator & navigates like that site. Again had to purchase £ to interact.

Surprised by younger likes of my profile, hard to decipher from the 'fake user' road to nowhere interactions, but you get use to weeding them out. If I get a like usually swap numbers than message on App. Made use of phones dual sim card option so potential suitors don't have personal number, if the connection dies block their number and move on.

Have chatted to dozens last year or so via this method, met only a few in person. Only met up after few weeks messaging & you are mad not to make use of video calls.

Current & best match (15 years younger) has been a long distance one, so make use of Apps distance option. Seeing once a month, take turns traveling, will do fortnightly during end of summer.

Best advice don't let these sites milk you of your £ & make use of WhatsApp video calls to weed them out & break ice with good suitors.

Brilliant advice. I'd never have thought about the twin sim. I don't even have What's Ap... I'm very naive. The only safety precaution I know is cover your drinks. This is a whole new world.
Why do men still think commenting on your looks straight away is a winner? Have we not moved on from thar. I'm far from gorgeous.
Please direct me to fish conversation i can't see it.
Thanks a million.

Is the video calls to ensure they can speak or tp check you aren't being cat fished?

Better a icebreaker via video call than potential awkward date. Not really for looks, but you be surprised the amount of men who use filters.

Howsoon23 · 14/07/2024 20:37

Yeah tried a few and Bumble seems to be the best but that is relative -do need to pay for premium I think. trick is to chat enough to check there is a connection but not so long that it's going to awkward if you meet and don't fancy them. Also some people don't really want to meet but can chat for ages - dull in my view. Lots of younger men asking me round to 'vibe' - advise being reasonably flexible with distance, age - incidently deep chats sometimes mean not being bothered if someone is married or not. Just had a lovely first date with someone from there so feeling pleases!

SamW98 · 14/07/2024 20:50

I’ve never paid for bumble and I have chatted to quite a few. You can message matches in the free version you just have a limited number of daily right swipes and you can’t see likes unless you match.

I’ve never done a video call - it’s personal choice but I hate them. I’d rather just meet and see if there’s a spark
