Do I walk or stay?

I was with my BF for 2yrs.

We had a pretty messy breakup 11-12months ago!

No one cheated or anything - was just a massive difference in opinion, that just kept leading to arguments and then the split.

Recently he said he wants to try again, which I said I was open to, so we met up, date night if you like all was good.

I've since asked him what made him want to try again - he said because feelings are hard.
I asked him how he feels & he can't tell me, he said he is unsure.
This hasn't really filled me with the confidence I was hoping for...
Would it be foolish to carry this on?
Am I setting myself up for more heartbreak?

Would it be foolish? Yes, but not for that reason. You broke up before because of differences of opinion that escalated to arguments and falling out. What makes you think anything would be different?

Are you setting yourself up for more heartbreak? Possibly. Unless you can both find common ground to accept differences of opinion and reach a compromise, otherwise it's doomed to fail. Again. For the same reasons.

Sounds like he's attracted to you but knows deep down you're not compatible with each other. Hence the 'feelings' comment.

Do you walk or stay? If it was me in your shoes, I'd walk. Or rather, I'd not have agreed to a second chance date in the first place. I'd just remind myself of the reason/s we broke up and say thanks but let's leave the past in the past.

Have your opinions changed?
have his?
can you accept the differences of opinion or have you both learned how to resolve things better in the time apart?
basically if you tried again would it even be different

then after that consider if you care that he doesn’t actually seem able to profess any particular feelings for you
surely after years together and a year apart you’d be sure of your feelings,

also you don’t mention at any point in your op how you feel about him, you sound fairly indifferent

I wouldn’t just have a go for the sake of it, or because neither of you found anyone else in a year so you think you may as well, which is exactly what it sounds like
