Anyone else hate husband when period about to start???

I love my husband so so much and love our relationship. However for the 2 days before my period I actually hate him and I will start a fight over anything and everything to the point where it turns into a proper argument. When my period arrives I’ll be weepy and apologise but at the time I’m just so full of anger and just go a bit mental to be honest. Surely this can’t be normal??

Yeah, I’m grim the week before my period starts. Really tetchy about everything. Not ideal!

mnahmnah · 09/06/2024 20:34

Yep. Then older I get the worse I am. Perimenopause at its finest I reckon.

SirWalterElliot · 09/06/2024 20:34

Yep! I wouldn't say I hate him, but I start to find him SO IRRITATING. Even though I'm totally aware that it's a hormonal thing it feels so real.

AToyotaYarisforPetessake · 09/06/2024 20:38

Yes, I'm hideous. I don't show it (much) , but seethe quietly. I find it helpful to list all the ways in which he's lovely and all the ways in which I am maddening.

It's worse now I'm perimenopausal. I'm seriously thinking of getting the Mirena as I'm so exhausted by the roller-coaster of hormonal rage. I can't wait to be post menopausal.

IrritableVowel · 09/06/2024 20:38

Same here. I get so irritated by him and have no patience for 2-3 days before my period starts

Oooooooodieeeee · 09/06/2024 20:39

Totally. But I’m not keen on him in-between at the moment either. But I have zero patience and what I refer to as ‘stabby’ feelings. Luckily I’m not prone to violence!

noclouds · 09/06/2024 20:45

Yes and I hate my children before my period, I can be completely irrational. I scared myself one month and spoke to GP who prescribed Setraline and it's been a life changer. Definitely feel calmer and happier. Still get grumpy but not irrational and don't hate my amazing family

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 09/06/2024 20:46

I hate everybody Grin Except my snack cupboard, my best friend in the 1-2 days before.

Sdpbody · 09/06/2024 20:48

It's the week before my period currently and I hate my DH. My kids are also annoying me, which is unusual.

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 09/06/2024 20:50

Yes I was thinking exactly this today! For about 4 days before my period I’m a horrible shouty mum, impatient, and everything DP does annoys me. I need to do something about it for their sakes

Haha. I always know my period is due when I every single thing my husband does sends me into a rage. I manage to keep a lid on it as I know I'll adore him again in 2 days time !

MrsWhites · 09/06/2024 21:07

Yes! This morning I honestly could have divorced him and never looked back - because….he didn’t have socks on and the way he was sat must have cut off his circulation a bit and his feet (which are boney and weird at the best of times) were all grey funny looking! Literally irritated me beyond words!

Then he chopped onions when I asked him to slice them! Honestly at the moment the sight of him breathing is enough to set me off.

But its not just him, I was waiting in a queue in primark this afternoon and you know when they call out the next free till point - a woman didn’t pay attention and then when she eventually realised it was her turn moved at the speed of a 3 legged tortoise. Honestly I was seething!

The red rage to a bull rage thing has definitely got worse in the last year or 2 and I’m just about to turn 40!

Sunnysummer24 · 09/06/2024 21:16

I know this well. Every month I would be getting my ducks in a row and I would be exhausted. I went back on the pill. No periods, but I still get mild symptoms.

Mairzydotes · 09/06/2024 21:20

Yes. I feel like this more often than not when I have to spend a lot of time with him .Good old peri-menopause, eh.

There was a weekend recently and he didn't irritate me at all , which was surprising.

MademoiselleChanel · 09/06/2024 22:04

You should hear the language that comes out of my mouth if I'm premenstrual & driving and someone gives me road rage! 🙈🙈🙈

retinolalcohol · 09/06/2024 22:11

I hate everyone when my period is due. Including myself.

Complete existential crisis, what is the point of living, oh fuck off I can't be arsed to talk to anymore, I am so fat etc.

Then I check my tracking app and it all makes sense Grin just have to shut my mouth and wait it out

carrottop23 · 09/06/2024 22:14

Yep and then around ovulation I adore him and fancy him and want to jump his bones. Two weeks later and I can't stand the sight of him. Poor bugger.

Exactly this! My poor DH puts up with so much shit from me around my period and I genuinely can't help it!

GetTheTattoo · 09/06/2024 22:39

Yes. I get claustrophobic as fuck and want to run away back to my 20s and make a whole bunch of different life decisions.

Anotherlurkingmale · 09/06/2024 22:39

This is reassuring to read - I have definitely been on the receiving end a few times wondering what on earth I've done wrong then lo and behold realise its that time of the month again and she's like a new person again when it passes.

Notoironing · 09/06/2024 23:34

Yes and also find his scent terrible :( poor man
