Trip away

I live abroad and have asked my new boyfriend if he’d like to go back to the uk for a visit with me.
I said I was planning a trip home and would love it if he came.
He said yes straight away now my dilemma is as I asked will he expect me to pay for the trip ?

Just tell him you've been looking at flights (or whatever) and they cost £xxxx is he OK with paying that?

Surely a new boyfriend wouldn't expect you to pay though

Well I certainly wouldn't. I'd expect to pay for my own flights and share of accommodation, or if staying with your family to pay for meals out, take a gift, whatever you thought was fair to them. What makes you think he will expect to be paid for? Is that the usual dynamic in your relationship?

No not at all but I was wondering as I’d asked him along did he think I was paying for the cost of the trip

I dated an Italian man once. He invited me to Italy to meet his family. It never even crossed my mind he would pay for it.
