I’ve started seeing someone I really like. He sometimes sends me little messages telling me how he feels about me which I think is very sweet. I was in an abusive relationship for a while and I suppose I forgot what normal is.
Are these messages normal ?

I think you'd have to give more context like examples of what he says. Sweet little messages here or there are nice, love bombing messages with really exaggerated feelings to early on are not. It's mpossible to know without knowing more. I'm sorry about the abusive relationship.
