Stupid questions about Tinder

I know absolutely nothing about Tinder - other than it is a dating / hook up site - hence the silly questions.

If you have the Tinder app on a mobile phone, what do you usually see when you tap the icon? Is it normal to see your profile pic, and a full screen shot of a potential date? Would this only show if you are signed up and actively using Tinder?

Also, how easy is it to find someone and / or set up a fake profile?

Sorry if these questions ae a bit vague, but I really could do with some help on this. My relationship is fine, but I am really worried about a family member.

Thank you.

From memory it would go to the page you were last on OR the page showing potential matches

The only way to fins someone would be to search within a set no. of miles of their location, so if you were in Birmingham you may set it to say 5 miles. Obviously a big place like that will get loads of matches, so if this person is in the sticks that would be easier, i.e. a small village in Northamptonshire - search with 5 miles. BUT if they were commuting to London for work and you search at 3pm they would not show as location would be London.

You can refine it so narrow the age, race etc.

To be honest I had heard so many horror stories about Tinder, however my experience is very positive.
It’s simple and straight forward. You set up a profile, you upload some pictures and set some preferences. Based on these preferences Tinder sends you suggestions. When you like someone you swipe right. He has also suggestik s by Tinder on his side. If he is active on Tinder, sees your picture and also swipe right then you are a match.
There are of course many married and creepy men there, but in my experience it takes you about 5min talk to figure them out.
If you talk and like each other then you go on a date at a very public place to be on the safe side.
It’s good fun as long as you have a “meeting new people and listening to their stories” mindset. You may find love there, you may not. But If one is careful and smart there is no reason to feel unsafe or scared.
