Inter Religion Marriage

Hi, I'm in a relationship of 2.5 years, inter Religion. We are in our late 20s, same age. He is from a good and educated family. My family is also educated but very orthodox. He has not yet spoken to his family as he is of the opinion that even if they are educated, they will never allow this marriage and he will directly marry me and inform them later. I on the contrary want to convince my parents as much as possible for this guy and want to let them know that he is a good person and I'll be happy with him. I recently told them about him and they are devastated and shocked. My mum knows him well but is still not agreeing on this marriage. We have just given 2 months, I am convincing them myself. I asked him to please come with me and help me in convincing them by coming down to my hometown. He is very scared and is denying this. He wants me to take decision and not keep convincing as they will never listen. But I'm very worried about my parent's health, anything can happen. I don't want them to think that I have married any random guy, I want them to know him but he is just not ready. They have fixed my engagement with some other guy next month by taking all sorts of promises, I don't want to do this. Please suggest me, what should I do?
