Pain during sex

Hi there,

I've been reading this forum for a while now and I hope this is the right place for my question.

I know this might be TMI but I've been dealing with this issue since I became sexually active and there just doesn't seem to be a solution. Now that me and my partner are TTCing, the problem gets worse.

The thing is: sex sometimes hurts. Not always. Sometimes.

I've been turned inside out by two different gyns, I've had pelvic floor therapy and it's still a mystery why this happens. I don't have an infection, vaginismus, vulvodynia, endometriosis... You name it, I don't have it. There's sufficient foreplay, I'm wet enough, yet it still hurts sometimes. It drives me nuts and I just grit my teeth when I'm in pain because I know there's nothing I can do about it and I don't want to miss my fertile days.

I recently talked about this with my younger sister. She said that she has this too and she even claims this happens to most women from time to time as well. Could this be true?

Retroverted uterus so sex is always uncomfortable for me. The only position I can tolerate for longer periods is doggy style.

Have you tried lube? I’m wondering if it’s more painful at certain times of the month?

OK I don't want to sound like a porno mag but is your current partner "bigger" than previous ones? I find I react quite differently to different ones and differences in where they reach (not necessarily because of size, but because of the particular guy's experience) and larger or longer ones can cause pains in areas that I didn't even know I had! I emphasise again that I am not being silly and definitely not judging. I'm telling you of my experiences.
