New to OLD...Are distanced on the apps correct?

Chatting to a man recently and am confused about distances.
Despite him saying he is at one place ie a football stadium in town, where he is playing , his distance in the app shows hundreds of miles away. Then suddenly it reverts back to his normal location?
This is weird , right?
Do these apps glitch like this. I am wary as it is early days and am trying to root out the dross, many of whom I've chatted to.
Thanks

Depends on the app, I think. Some of them track your location, which is fine if you're going around town, but can be less helpful if you go away to a conference or something (unless you're just looking for a hookup.) Others let you set your location even if you travel. Plus some people will lie.

Some of them do glitch, and you know someone can't travel hundreds of miles in a short while, so... don't take everything at face value, whether the app or potential dates.

Thank you. The app is tinder . Showed his usual location( 180 miles) and then showed he was 50 miles from me and then suddenly reverted to his usual location. I know he was travelling but to just 100 miles from me.
Seems all very cluedo but as I said I'm totally new to this and I'm trying to find the honest ones . They seem
Rare tbh !

Yes they glitch just like loads of other location services. I've had log ins frequently for example that have said a device from London has logged in when i know it was me logging in from Edinburgh. Find my iPhone the other day showed dd at a random residential street miles away from where she said she was so she face timed me to show me she was absolutely where she was meant to be. I don't suppose dating site locations are any different.
