Strange

A guy I'd known in friendly terms for a few weeks asked me round his house. When we were inside his house the conversation was totally different to how he had been before. He became really odd and started asking me why I was doing that. When I asked 'doing what?' he said if I didn't know then he wasn't going to tell me. I think I had a lucky escape but part of me is trying to make sense of it and I'm over-analysing my communication style. What on earth could he have meant or is he insane?

He's nuts.

Humanswarm · 11/04/2024 14:09

Is there more context? Or were you literally standing there and he asked why are you doing that?

MermaidEyes · 11/04/2024 14:10

Yes, what were you actually doing at the time?

Maybelyn · 11/04/2024 14:11

Context was we were both seated, me on his sofa and him in a chair. We were just talking, he randomly came out with it!

Very odd. Close shave there.

Bbq1 · 11/04/2024 14:25

Thank God he gave you early warning he's odd. Sounds quite creepy and unsettling.

CrunchingNumbers · 11/04/2024 14:28

Were you doing some subconscious nervous thing like bouncing your foot or chewing your lip? Maybe you were doing something that made him nervous, especially if you didn't know you were doing it? Dunno! Wild guess there lol.

fatphalange · 11/04/2024 14:38

Creepy attempt at flirting in a 'what?' 'What do you mean what?' 'You know!' 'I don't know' 'oh youuuu' smooch smooch, teenagerish manner or maybe even negging to put you on the back foot. Most likely a total freak.
Please in future don't go round to men's houses you don't know- get to know them in public places. Grab a coffee. Get a feel for whether he's a cretin or not before putting yourself in danger.

Could be mental illness?
Or could be weirdness.
I worked with a man - a purely work-based colleague, I never socialised with him.
So there was a time we were talking together about a work project, alone in the office (we were sitting at separate desks) and there was a lull in the conversation. He looked over at me and suddenly said, "Did something just happen here?"
I must have looked confused so he said, "Is it just me? Or did we have a moment there?"
The way he looked at me was intense and weird. Did he think this was romance??? FFS.
How on earth could a casual chat about work be some kind of 'moment'.
Men can be strange.
