I've tried online dating and am ready to give up. It's just not worked for me.

So at 50+, working almost exclusively remotely, busy two nights a week but not somewhere with many other 50+ singles, what are the alternatives that have worked for people, other than just sitting at the bar waiting to get chatted up by a lonely alcoholic?

Not done this but I've heard there are meet up groups for single people if that would interest you?

The oldfashioned way: asking around on your network of anyone has a single friend they think would be a good match for you? Get set up on blind-dates.
Speed-dating events?

Suggest hobbies that maximise the people meeting opportunities- even if you aren't meeting men, you may meet people who know people etc. Examples include pickleball (v sociable and loads of 50 somethings do it), volunteering, walking groups, dance nights (ceroc etc v sociable and also lots in that age group) etc. I know a couple that met in their fifties playing bridge. Got to be right for you of course, but there is a lot of social opportunities out there..

I would start golf or tennis lessons or join a lifestyle club that has lots of socials

I joined Meetup, met a couple of people, although ended up with someone from Tinder

I'd go out and do the things you enjoy

If you are in England ? I believe there is a website called Meetup ? and it is a social group that arranges meetups with different activities, it might be worth having a look at it.
That way you would be ' out and about ' meeting people / making friends and there may be someone that you meet that becomes a potential partner, and these people also have friends and family - and you never know one of these new friends may have a relation or a friend or a work colleague that they may think is perfect for you ?

I heard a song was requested by a lady who had met their new partner via the “classic fm dating?site” im not sure exactly but i thought that’s different and i guess if its what your into then thats great way to find others with the same interests 🤷🏻‍♀️

I run a MeetUp group so obviously recommend it. It’s been amazing for me.
