MIL gives me gift on mother's day

Wheelerdeeler · 10/03/2024 11:42

Isn't this the nicest thing? She gives me a bunch flowers or my fave chocs just to acknowledge my being her grandchildren's mother.

It means so much and I'm so grateful for a decent mother in law.

Sorry for bragging but we see some much mil bashing on here.

OP posts:
DontCallMeKidDontCallMeBaby · 10/03/2024 11:44

That’s really lovely. I’m lucky to have an amazing mother in law too. I understand why we always see more of the negative on here, but it’s nice to see the other side sometimes as well.

RusticChips · 10/03/2024 11:44

Lovely Flowers

ZekeZeke · 10/03/2024 11:44

Ah that's so lovely.
My MIL passed away 2 years ago, she was the most amazing woman and I was blessed to have her in my life.
She adored me and I her.

Dostadning · 10/03/2024 11:45

Not bragging OP, it's refreshing to hear, well done that woman! Daffodil

Mummyofthewildones · 10/03/2024 11:47

Love my MIL! We are off to theirs today, where we will be well fed and DCs will be well entertained. Feel lucky to have her.

Shetlands · 10/03/2024 11:47

She's a gem and so (quite clearly) are you. 💐

Icedoatlattelove · 10/03/2024 11:49

That's really lovely

NOWorNeverNowhere · 10/03/2024 11:51

That's so lovely, mine emotionally abused dh along with his df, and is estranged. Why can't I have somebody like you MIL?? She sounds amazing! Happy mother's day to all! 💗

Justme10 · 10/03/2024 11:58

My ex mil sent me a beautiful Mother's Day message today but we do talk most days to be honest.
She is a genuinely lovely person and to be honest I don't know how I would have got through some of the harder times without her. I am very lucky to have her Flowers

LeroyJenkinssss · 10/03/2024 11:59

Aw this is nice. If I’m going away on a work trip my MIL sends me some spending money 😁

Dearg · 10/03/2024 12:11

That is so lovely Op. what a great relationship you two must have. Enjoy your day and thanks for sharing !

TheGreatGherkin · 10/03/2024 12:16

Aw. It's good to hear positive MIL stories for a change.

Spirallingdownwards · 10/03/2024 12:18

One year I got a card from mine with a note saying she couldn't have asked for a better mother for her grandchildren. She is not usually a card person at all, misses birthdays etc. That one card definitely made such a difference in my perception of her

siblingrevelryagain · 10/03/2024 12:28

my DH and I have been separated for almost 10 years (he lives with the OW), and I send my ‘ex’ MIL a gift every year for Mother's day; we had some tension when we first broke up but we both maintained our dignity and bit our tongues when we wanted to say things we might later regret, and we now have a good understanding of each other; we both want what’s best for the grandchildren and that involves all of us getting along. Although I have a Mother I still mark the role she plays in my life and my children’s on this day to let her know I appreciate her

EssexCat · 10/03/2024 12:36

Oh that’s lovely. I had a wonderful MIL who sadly died a few years ago and I miss her very much.

Loubelle70 · 10/03/2024 12:42

That's lovely... especially MIL.
I always get my daughter something for mothers day from the kids, shes a great mum, works hard. She deserves it too.

gotmychristmasmiracle · 10/03/2024 12:58

Can I swap please? 🤣

UnhealthyCopingStrategies · 10/03/2024 13:00

Lucky you!

Obeseandashamed · 10/03/2024 13:05

This is really sweet. Xxx

Iloveyoubut · 10/03/2024 13:09

That’s so lovely! My mum used to give me a bunch of flowers on my son’s birthday to say thank you for her grandson, it meant the world to me! If I get the chance to do what your mother in law does in the future, I’ll make sure to do it, so beautiful.

ExpatForLife · 10/03/2024 13:13

What a lovely post. I used to say that I won the MIL lottery- it's been 12 years since she passed and I still miss her.

Blobfishy · 10/03/2024 13:14

You've reminded me that mine has done the same before. She is always really generous with gifts. I think she has a bit of a shopping habit. She's not a great MIL/mother/nan in other ways (ignored DHs birthday last year, doesn't come to visit grandchild for months at a time - i could go on)😔

BeckyWithTheGoodBear · 10/03/2024 13:14

What a lovely post. I have four sons and this gives me hope that not everyone hates their MIL!

MrsRelo · 10/03/2024 13:15

That’s really nice. My mum and MIL have never acknowledged me as a mother on Mother’s Day and I have to say that it does sting a bit.

I can’t imagine not acknowledging my daughters as mothers if/when their time comes. To know that my mum respected me as a mum would mean the world.

Enjoy your day 💖

SerenityNowInsanityLater · 10/03/2024 13:28

I love reading stuff like this!

I've never been wished Happy Mother's Day by even my own mother so, it's such a lovely thing to see a very functional, kind MIL who is not a martyr expecting a parade in her sole honour on the day.
