Christmas gift wrong delivery

What would you think if your husband gave you a necklace which had been wrongly delivered to our house as a Christmas gift? (He didn’t know you knew it had been wrongly delivered the lodger mentioned it)

Sack the cheapskate off, not before you ask him for the receipt to change it. Watch him squirm

CharmedCult · 08/03/2024 15:31

I was going to say I’d tell him there was some kind of fault with it and ask for the receipt.

But then I thought really, why play games?

Why haven’t you already told him you know?

DrJoanAllenby · 08/03/2024 15:45

I'd call him a cheap crook and tell him that his behaviour is completely unacceptable.

MagnoliaBrown · 08/03/2024 15:46

I'd say

'why have you given me the necklace as a present when it was sent to our house in error?'

BirthdayRainbow · 08/03/2024 15:47

I'd not feel the same about him and I'd ask why has he done this.

Sara1003 · 08/03/2024 16:36

Thanks, it has been bothering me. It's worth a few hundred pounds and is nice but I would never wear it as just feel it's not really mine. I would never do this ever.

When did you find out that he had kept the necklace rather than report it to the retailer that he had received it in error?

Aviee · 08/03/2024 16:39

I would ask why he did it.

Jk8 · 08/03/2024 16:40

How so many mumsmet women don't just blurt things out like surely if you knew it was not yours (or his) how did you not mention it at the time or when you found out. Like "fucking hell you stole me this necklace" or "what happens when the tracker shows it was dropped off here"

Like seriously????

Sara1003 · 08/03/2024 16:45

It's was on the side in the garage for ages. Felt a bit sad about it tbh.

So what are you doing to do?

CharmedCult · 08/03/2024 17:12

So you’ve never told your husband that you know it’s essentially stolen?

Ofcourseshecan · 08/03/2024 17:56

You should return it to sender. You don’t want stolen goods - and I don’t know what the law is, but morally this is theft.

Sara1003 · 08/03/2024 18:06

Now I know you are all of similar opinion I will.
